Below are the photos from the 8 date Woven Strings 2007 Summer tour. featuring... Rachel Hair (harp), Sarah Naylor (fiddle) and Douglas Millar (piano)
Leaving the big city for the highlands...thankfully Douglas has an estate! Somewhere in there is a harp, a keyboard and a fidde....
In Blairgowrie- we arrived the night before the first gig in the town hall, so managed to get some practice done (as well as some relaxing)
The joys of playing highland village halls! This one (Boat of Garten) is closing down and a new super-modern one is opening up next week.
The local gig...The Macphail Theatre, Ullapool. (photo by Jonathon Duckworth)
Playing up in Ullapool meant I had the chance to see all my old school mates again!
Over the sea to Skye, and we hit a traffic jam, highland style!
When we were in Skye, we stayed at Sarahs folks house in Uig...and we had Shian, to keep us amused.
You can't travel anywhere in the Highlands without bumping into folk you know. Luckily for us our mates "Deoch n Dorus" were coming off the ferry as we were getting on so they helped us with all out gear on.
Our tour bus on the Isle of Harris
On the ferry returning back to the Isle of Skye
And on the ferry we bump in our friend, fab Gaelic singer Darren Maclean... Douglas was well pleased after having spent over a week with us girls already!
The second of our gigs in Skye was in the community of Kilmuir, in the North, Local lad Eoghann Robertson gave us a song before the second half.
One of the last gigs of the tour was at Crafts and Things Arts Cafe in Glencoe. They take out all the tables, and it turns into a venue. We managed to squeeze in nearly 70 folk, and seeing as we didn't have to use a PA, it was almost like a traditional house ceilidh.
